Child
Care @ Carols

Hello my name is Carol and this is my husband Warren.

Home Policies Newsletters Photos Contact Me

I have been in child care since 1989. Mostly my child care years were spent as a nursery manager and from October 2014 I have been a registered child minder working from home. In March 2021, Warren joined me as a Childminding Assistant Full-Time allowing us to care for more children and more support for them. He is qualified in Safeguarding and has a Food Certificate so lunches and Dinners are well catered for! He will gradualy become fully qualified.

I have a wealth of experience and qualification in child care which includes, Early Years Child Care and Development Degree, Early Years Professional Status (EYP). I am a qualified Nursery Nurse (NNEB) with First Aid, Food Hygiene and Safeguarding.

We have a purpose built extension to the back of the house (August 2018) which has toilet and changing facilities, seperate door with ramp into a porch with coat and boot storage. We have a custom built balcony with artificial grass for babies and toddlers to play outside safely whilst the bigger ones have access to the garden via a gate. Large bifold doors can be opened to increase space even further. We have smart coloured lighting linked to Alexa for soothing/party lighting and soothing/party music and a large 50" smart tv for those Peppa Pig moments :-) Have a look at the photos too see more.

We have a Lab/Collie called Sooty who is 6 years old. We also have a young Kelpie/Lab called Cindy who is 7 months old (June 2021) and a tortoise called Keg who likes to just wonder round the garden. We moved to Stoney Stanton in June 2013, to our 3 bedroom extended semi-detached house in a quiet cul-de-sac. We both find it a very friendly village with lots to do.

The park, local shops and Manorfield school are all within easy walking distance.

I really enjoy welcoming children in to our home and always have lots of fun exciting times together. The children and their family are always made to feel welcome and part of whatever is going on at the time.

I have a good range of toys for indoor and outdoor use. I have a mud kitchen in the garden, tyres and planks of wood for den building, along with a varied selection of ride on toys. I have a good selection of books and jigsaws, along with role play and construction toys. I will continue to add to the selection as I get to know your child’s likes and interests.

The information in this website is for you to look through along with my policies and procedures which you can find on my web page www.childcareatcarols.com, which I hope will help you to make the right decision about the child care needs you require.

I intend to be as flexible as possible to meet your child care requirements.

I do not charge when I take time off and will always give as much notice as possible for you to find alternative care.

However I do charge for all other times even though you may not need my services due to your own holidays/sickness.

I do encourage you and your child to come and visit my home and meet me before making any further arrangements.

Payments are made for the coming months’ worth of care required. All extra care is to be paid for at the time of booking and before using.
I accept cash and online bank payments.

I am also registered to receive childcare vouchers should your work place offer that service.

I will need the ‘Child Details’, ‘Parents’ Permission’, and ‘About Me’ forms completed so that I can care for your child with full knowledge and understanding of their needs.
I will be working to meet the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

During the time that I care for your child I will cover all the areas of learning and development. I will use the leaning outcomes provided by the government to make my judgment along with observing your child. As I observe the children in my care I will be able to get to know your child's interests and provide activities linked with them, working towards your child’s next steps of development.

This will enable your child to have a high level of learning and enjoyment. From our initial meeting if you feel that it is appropriate for you, I will set up a communications book. We will both be able to entre any significant information that will benefit us both when meeting the needs of your child. For example “Jo has had a busy weekend at Grandma’s and may need an extra-long sleep today”/ “while Jo has been with me today he has used the potty successfully” I will always make time to talk to you at the beginning and the end of your child’s time with me to ensure a proper hand over of care.
